In festive mood, the F.A.H.E.T.G.D.S. ladies mount yet another assault on the classics with their stage version of A Christmas Carol. Enthusiasm their middle name, and with the virile support of stage-manager Gordon, the cast present a dizzy array of characters from the Dickensian favorite (and a few which aren’t) under the ever-battling leadership of Thelma and Mrs. Reece. Of course, no Farndale evening would be quite complete without those wayward touches of ingenuity for which the ladies are so justly famed, so, in truly sparkling form, Mrs. Reece engineers some novel audience participation while bravely contending with the chattily-intrusive PA system. Other characters include Felicity, a nervous, well-meaning but incompetent actress; Mercedes, phlegmatic yet dogged, rendered almost inert by her neck brace; and Adrian, a disaffected teenage light board operator. Roles are for women ages 20s to 50s and two male roles – one teenage and the other any age. Auditions will be held at the Dummerston Grange on Oct. 2nd 6:00 – 8:00pm, Oct 4th 2:00 – 4:00pm and Oct. 7th 6:00 – 8:00pm. Performances will be Dec. 5-7 & 12-14 at the Dummerston Grange. For more information call co-directors Betty Greenhoe 387-4524 days or evenings or Brenda L. Seitz 257-0901 evenings. A copy of the script will be on reserve at Brooks Memorial Library. |
